How to Care for Crochet

Wash kindly, dry flat, and your knit will outlive the trend cycle.

Crochet is the slowest cloth there is — every stitch is a hand. The garment you’re holding probably took 18 to 30 hours to make. Treat it like a friend.

Cold water, a capful of mild soap, no scrubbing. Roll between two towels to lift moisture, then dry flat in the shade — never on a hanger, which stretches the shoulders into a remembering droop.

Pilling is normal at the underarm and waist; a fabric comb pulls the fluff up without breaking the stitch. Skip the dryer always.
